In addition to the Shore Conference teams – Middletown North, Neptune, Lakewood and Point Beach – a former Shore Conference star will be in action during a tremendous slate of high-level, nationally-ranked teams competing at the Prime Time Shootout this weekend at Kean University.

Former Christian Brothers Academy star point guard Roy Mabrey is doing a prep year at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn., one of the top prep programs in the country, which also features 6-10 center Andre Drummond, a high-level uncommitted recruit who has a list that includes North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pitt and more. St. Thomas More will be part of the event this weekend, playing Union at 9 p.m. on Saturday and then following that with a highly-anticipated game against the No. 1 team in the country, St. Patrick’s, at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, so if you have the time, there are a ton of games worth checking out.

I also wouldn’t be shocked if Mabrey isn’t the last Shore player at St. Thomas More for a while, as I could see Lakewood’s Tony Walker or Jarrod Davis possibly doing a season there next year. Talking to CBA coach Geoff Billet about Mabrey earlier this season, he has some mid-major Division I looks from places like Coastal Carolina and other schools in the South, while also getting heavy interest from high-level Division II programs.

Middletown North will play South Jersey power Middle Township at 9:30 p.m. on Friday in its first game without Shilique Calhoun, then Neptune will be in action along with No. 1 Lakewood on Saturday. Neptune plays Half Hollows (N.Y.) and Iowa State recruit Tavon Sledge at noon, followed by Lakewood squaring off with Central Jersey Group IV contender Rancocas Valley at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, Point Beach will face defending CJ IV champion Montgomery at noon.

National powers like Findlay Prep, St. Pat’s, St. Anthony, Montrose Christian and others will all be in action over the course of the three-day event at Kean. Click here for the schedule and more information.
